Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering

　　Liu Baicheng is the professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University, and the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He was born in 1933 in Shanghai. He graduated and won Gold Medal Award from Tsinghua University in 1955. As a visiting scholar, he carried out research in University of Wisconsin-Madison and MIT from 1978 to 1981 for two years.
　　He won two First Class Awards of Progress of Science and Technology from the Ministry of Education, five Second Class Awards and four Third Class Awards from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Machinery Building. He also won two awards from the United States. He is now the project director of several national fundamental research projects on modeling and simulation of shaped and continuous castings and on fundamental studies of net shaped casting technologies as well.
　　Professor Liu has visited 30 more universities of different countries and gave lectures. He presented more than 30 papers and several keynote presentations in many international conferences. He published more than 300 papers.
