Li Yongtang, born in June, 1957, Professor, Doctoral Director. Now Vice-President of Taiyuan University of Science & Technology and Leading Fellow in Disciplinary of Materials Science and Engineering. 

Professor Li was graduated from Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Institute in 1982. He got his MS Degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1984 and PhD from Tsinghua University in 1994. He had been a visiting scholar in University of Tennessee, USA, from Sept., 2000~Sept., 2001. He became a professor in 1994 and has been awarded State Special Allowance in the same year. He is Part-Time Doctorial Supervisor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Lanzhou University of Technology and Xi’an Jiaotong Universtiy.

Professor Li has been engaged in teaching and scientific research works for many years in the fields of theory and design of forging equipments, electro-hydraulic control system of forging equipments, modeling and simulation of large-scale hydraulic system, high-speed and precision cutting technology of bars, and technologies and equipments of rotational forming and precision forming. He has supervised more than 30 MS and doctoral candidates. He has been responsible for more than 30 scientific research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of Shanxi Province, and State Ministry, and has received more than 20 achievements. The new type serialization products of program controlled hydraulic hammer and electro-hydraulic hammer developed by professor Li and his research group has been popularized and applied by more than 50 enterprises and has produced economic and social benefits for more than 3 hundred millions Yuan. In the recent 10 years, he held 5 national invention patents, published 6 teaching materials and works and 100 papers. He has been awarded Science and Technology Progress Prizes above the second class from State Ministry and the Municipal Government for 9 times and 2 second awards of Excellent Teaching Achievements from Shanxi Province.

He has been elected as the earliest young disciplinary leading fellow of Shanxi Province, the earliest disciplinary leading fellows going beyond century of Ministry of Machinery, and excellent teaching expert of Shanxi Province. He has been awarded Young Scientist Prize by Shanxi Province and the first prize of Youth Scientific and Technological Conference of Shanxi Province. In 2004, he won the honor of Super Grade Model Worker of Shanxi Province.

He is a Standing Director of National Forging Society, President of Forging and Pressing Society of Shanxi Province, Vice-President of Mechanical Engineering Society of Shanxi Province and Vice-Director Commissary of Chinese Forging Machinery Standardization Technology Committee. He is also a member of editorial committee board of Journal of Chinese Mechanical Engineering and Forging Equipment and Manufacturing Technology, etc.
