YU Xinlu, born on june, 1931, Professor of Dept. of Mech. Eng., Tsinghua University, Beijing. Graduated from Dept. of Mech. Engg., Tsinghua University in 1952, and worked there as a teaching assistant(1952-1956), lecturer(1956-1979), associate Professor(1979-1984), and from 1984 Professor.
Major Areas of Research
☆ Hydraulic Press:
1) 1956-1958: As main technical director, designed and built the 1st. 2500 ton hydraulic forging press in Beijng.
2) 1960-1966: As main technical director, designed and built the 1st. 1000 ton prestressed reinforced concrete hydraulic press.
3) 1970-1990s: Systematical study on prestressed wire-wounded hydraulic presses, especia-
ly in design theory and structural patterns. Under our guidance, more than several hundreds large wire-wounded presses were manufactured and successfully used in industries, and among them, more than thirty were heavy presses(large than 10000 ton). The heaviest one is 40000 ton hydraulic press for sheet metal forming, which successfully worked many years up to now.
For above achievements, got National Scientific and Technological Achievement Award(3rd class) in 1998 and Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of Ministry of Machine Building(1st. class)in 1997.
4) Study on 65000 ton Huge Hydraulic Press in 1980s.

1) Fatigue Analysis and Structural Optimization for the main cylinder of 8000 ton hydraulic press and gain the Scientific and Technological Advanced Award(2nd class)of National Committee of Education (1989).
2) Advanced new theories on fatigue: Stress Intensity Field Method; Probabilistic Fatigue Damage Mechanics, and gain the Scientific and Technological Advanced Award(2nd class)of National Committee of Education(1995)again
