Zhang Zhiming, born on April 24, 1931, Professor, Supervisor of doctoral candidates in Shanghai University, China. Research fields: Machine Design and Tribology, with main interests in Hydrodynamic Lubrication and Rotor-bearing Dynamics

Main Contributions: Realization of the first full scaled bearing program of China in 1964; Proposal of the method of characteristic vectors for bearing calculation in 1977, which was adopted as the fundamental method of bearing calculation by JB of Ministry of Machinery in 1984; Proposal of the numerical method of prediction of critical Taylor number of concentric cylinders in 1980; Clarification of the mechanism of counter revolution of bearings under whirling journals in 1985; Proposals of turbulent lubrication theory based on a combined turbulence model, Proposal of Database-aided-calculation of hydrodynamic bearings, Simulation of non-linear lateral vibration of rotor-bearing system aided by database of non-stationary bearing force in the 1990s; Predictions of the dependence of bearing properties on the effects of dynamic elastic deformation of bearing, visco-elastic deformation of bush, and complex connecting tunnel in bush in various years. Realization of numerous application programs of bearing and rotor-bearing system programs for domestic turbine and qenerator companies, such as HIEF20, TURBRG, JB2004, SB2005, ROT and UNRESP, assisted by cooperators. More than 100 publications of papers and books.
