Commonly Used Sci-tech Terms
China Machine Press
September 1, 2003

To implement Regulations on Book Quality Management etc. enacted by the General Administration of Press and Publication, adapt to new changes of national standard and industry standard as well as improve quality of books published by China Machine Press, this standard is hereby laid down.
The standard is applicable to sci-tech books, journals and so on published by China Machine Press and provides references for usages of terms in contributions and articles. The standard covers common mechanical terms, terms commonly used for fluid drive and control, terms frequently used for chemical and oil products, frequently-used auto terms, terms commonly used for electro-technics, electronics and telecommunication as well as common computer terms.
Terms enumerated in the standard are just some non-standard ones commonly seen in contributions and their standard counterparts. Since sci-tech terms are very specialized, they should be used cross-disciplinarily with carefulness and should not use indiscriminately.
In the process of making the standard
GB 3100, 3102-1993 Quantities & Units as well as relevant national standard and industry standard are followed out well. When normal terms of an industry contradict that in the standard, the industry terms should be based on, though uniform regulations and descriptions are given in the standard for frequently-used terms; when industry terms and that in the standard both are available, only one should be used in the whole book or in one paper.
