Abstract:
The present paper investigated the solution of Maxwell fluid in
sliding bearings utilitying an universal form of Reynolds equation and
assuming existing a linearied relation between stress and rate of strain
in that viscoelastic fluid. The influence of nonlinear effect of Maxwell
fluid on pressure distribution, bearing load capacity, peak pressure and
friction coefficient was calculated and the analytical solution of three
nonlinear functions in modified Reynolds equation were also obtained.
