Abstract:
For an automatic machining system, reliable detection of outing tool
breakage and so were wear on line is a key issue. Acoustic emission
signal is used to detect various kinds of cutting tool breakage on
machining centre. In order to monitor various kinds of cutting tool in
different machining operations under different machining conditions, a
modified pattern recognition algorithm has been developed Based on this
algorithm, a synthetic monitoring system of cutting tool breakage is
introduced. The system can monitor milling drilling, turning, boring,
etc. operations on machining centre, so the monitoring of an automatic
machining system could be performed. More than 90 percent was obtained
for the rate of success on CNC lathes and machining centres.
