Abstract: In this paper, advantages and disadvantages of profiling method of existing skiving carbide hob are analyzed. Based on this, the new profiling method developed by authors is expounded emphatically and the hobbing mechanism of this kind of skiving hob is discussed. The result of cutting experiment demonstrates that the new skiving hob possesses more excellent cutting performance. Not only its breakage resistance is high but also tool life is long. In practical application it has been welcomed by user.
