Abstract: The extended Reynolds equation with fluid inertia effects considered is derived in the case of the spherical hydrostatic thrust bearing relating along its equator diameter. Numerical solutions of the equation are obtained. A comparison of pressure distribution, load capacity and flow rate is made between the solution with inertia effects and the linear solution in which the inertia effects are neglected.
