Abstract: A experimental device for cavitation erosion is established by use of the mechanism of ultrasonic vibration. The influences of bubbly oil on the cavitation erosion in journal bearings in engines are investigated in detail. From analyzing these experimental results it is found that the bubbly oil decrease the cavitation erosion in engines, and the more the bubble content is, the more the influence is. The traditional mechanism of gaseous cavitation erosion is discussed and explained in a new way according to the experimental results.
