Abstract: Contact treatment is one of key factors influence the FEM simulation accuracy and efficiency. A general method is proposed to describe the tool surface by line segments and are segments with their analytic form for 2D metal forming problem. A general and efficient contact algorithm is developed, which is characterized by modification of nodes’ coordinate and their boundary constraint condition when convergence is obtained. It is validity is tested by three simulation examples.
