INVESTIGATION ON ELECTROCHEMICAL MACHINING

WITH THE ORBITAL MOVEMENT OF ELECTRODE

Abstract: Electrochemical machining (ECM) with an eccentric orbital anode movement is presented to improve machining stability and accuracy. Effects of electrolyte flow on the process are discussed. The experimental system is developed and the feasibility of the proposed process is experimentally verified. Experimental results indicate that orbital movement of electrode distributes the electrolyte flow more uniformly and hence leads to a significant improvement in the flow field of field of electrolyte. The proposed method is found to offer substantial gains in the accuracy and the uniformity of machined components.
