Abstract: Seismic responses of the body isolated by the resilient material with nonlinear stiffness are investigated. Nonlinear stiffness characteristics of the vibration isolating material are described by cubic polynomial function of its deformation. The nonlinear dynamic equation is developed. Nonlinear dynamic responses to a seismic excitation are analyzed by the method of harmonic balance and numerical integration. Frequency response equation and frequency response curves are derived. The technique and conclusions developed in the paper are very useful to the accurate design and effect analysis of vibration isolators.
