Abstract: Genetic algorithm is now being used widely in optimal design of all kinds of components because it can solve the multi-minimum optimal problem much better than the traditional optimal design methods. As new type energy-saving valve is made up of permanent magnet and electro-magnet, the optimal design problem is a complex multi-minimum problem. Traditional optimal design method is not suitable to solve such kind of problems. Thus genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimal design problem of new type valve. Mathematics model of optimal design is introduced and optimal results are given. The optimal design results using genetic algorithm are compared with traditional optimal results, Comparison shows that genetic algorithm is more suitable than traditional optimal methods to solve the problem of new type energy-saving solenoid directional control valve.
