Abstract: The torsional vibration of the large scale turbo-generator shaft system is the responsive result of the mechanical-electrical coupling. Because the transformation of electric net load is very complex, the impulse response on the generator shaft system is stochastic, paroxysmal and multiformed. Based on several typical outer powers actions, the response characteristic of torsional vibration of a 300 MW turbo-generator is simulated by solving the vibration wave equation of the continuous mass system. The forced torsional vibration of the turbo-generator shaft system is examined under the different operational condition of the system.

Key words: Turbo-generator system  Torsional vibration of the shaft system  Mechanical-electrical coupling  Elastic distributed structure  Vibration wave equation
