Abstract:
Under boundary lubrication with bearing steel and brass as friction
pair, the performance of controlled friction of some common and special
lubricating materials under the application of electric field is
studied. Result shows that the friction coefficient of these lubricants
can be changed remarkably by the externally applied electric field, but
only a type of ferromagnetic flow, called BH-1.exhibits better
performance on the friction control. It also suggested that the
controllable property of friction was not general for every lubricant.
