Abstract: A
methodology is presented to build a generalized kinematics model of NC
machine tools with arbitrary configuration. A NC machine tool with
arbitrary axes number and arbitrary axes-moving direction can be
described as a mechanism model with its configuration type and
configuration parameters, and then the kinematics model can be built.
Based on this model, a generalized algorithm to calculate the axis
values is also presented.
