Abstract: Four essentials of the self-collimation design principle of
machine bed are narrated on the basis of successful application of the
new-type self-collimation guideway grinders, their kernel is to make
gravitational deformation of machine bed automatically compensate for
its thermal deformation which is caused by the variety of environmental
temperature. To verify the self-collimation design principle, some
experiments such as groundsill stability, self-collimation
characteristics of simulant parts and grinding are carried out, their
results show that the machine bed’s guideway of the new-type
self-collimation guideway grinder possess higher precision stableness.
