Abstract: Based on the investigation on present achievements and the problems of many kinds of replacement-fuel vehicles and electric vehicles(EV), the principle, the structure features and the zero-pollution characteristics of the compressed air powered vehicle(CAPV) are presented and the achievements of the CAPV are summarized. The efficiency and feasibility of the CAPV are analyzed from the angle of energy, and the comparison of the compressed air power with battery power and fuel power are discussed. The CAPV is contrasted to the hydrogen fuel cell electric (HFCE) vehicle comprehensively as well. With the tentative research in Zhejiang University, the main contents of this project are listed. It could be concluded that the compressed air powered vehicle is a real zero-pollution and green car with a wide market prospect.
