Abstracts: In accordance with the difficult problems of grinding non-axisymmetric aspheric surfaces with 5-axis CNC machining and mould grinding, a new parallel grinding method is put forward. To reduce the profile error of workpiece in parallel grinding, the new truing technology of tilting cup-truer, off-axis compensation in main axis and cross axis, and compensation of wheel wear are used in the machining program design. With grinding experiment and analyzing measured data, it is obvious that new compensating method can meet the need of parallel grinding non-axisymmetric aspheric surfaces.

Key words: Non-axisymmetric aspheric surface  Parallel grinding  Cup-truer  Machining accuracy  Error compensation  Arc diamond wheel
