Abstract: Aimed at the reconstruction of single-value surfaces in reverse engineering, a method to construct surfaces based on physics-based shape design is developed. The construction of physical model and the handling of boundary restriction are detailedly concluded. Some universal algorithms are given, such as the constructing section lines, creating parametric lines on planar quadrangle and the interpolatory formula of transverse differential vectors on boundary. As an example, the surfaces of a car’s frontal panel are reconstructed to show the validity and characters of the method.
