Abstract: Mechanical properties of Virgo104 casting steel and its welds with two kinds of MIG wires and one covered electrode are investigated. The results indicate that mechanical properties at the center of tested piece of Virgo104 steel are same as that of the surface, and having an excellent combina- tion of tension strength and ductility. The high impact tou- ghness at low temperature, especially the higher Wp/Wi (~3.0) ratio and lateral expansion (~15%) of Virgo104 show its excellent resistance to brittle fracture. The weld metal and welded joints show good comprehensive mechanical prope- rties, and especially the weld metal with HS367L MIG wire compared with other welding consumables, shows higher ductility on welded condition, which indicates the higher resistance to welding cold cracking.
