Abstract: The surface of friction units is operated with the processing of laser honing to form linearly extending lubricant channels and grooves of the predetermined width, depth, angle, shape and gap. The said channels and grooves can be well-matched to the needs of lubrication. This technology is considered to specially fit to laser microcosmic sculpture on the surface cylinder bore. It results in not only remarkably improving the property of wear-resistance of cylinder and its life span, but also largely decreasing HC ejection of the internal combustion engine, its consumption of fuel oil and lubricant, the pollution of catalytic apparatus and the cost of piston.

Key words: Friction units  Laser honing  Cylinder bore  Lubrication  Abrasion
