Abstract:According to characteristics of injection-molding process,
the mold cavity is divided into a number of flowing paths and a
theoretical model for shrinkage of injection molded parts is set up. On
the basis of the theoretical model, a program is developed to forecast
the shrinkage tendency of plastic articles. By combining computational
results with the average rate of shrinkage provided by the manufacturer,
shrinkage rates of various points in a plastic article will be
determined.
