Abstract: A computerized procedure for type synthesis of mechanisms
is presented and the knowledge base system adopted in the procedure is
established in the mean time. At first, the elements and sets of the
basic mechanisms are defined according to their characteristics in
motion transformation. And then, the procedure of type synthesis is
described by motion transformation matrix. Meanwhile, the information of
the basic mechanisms and the possible solutions is effectively managed
in terms of knowledge base system. Based on the mathematic model and the
knowledge base system, an algorithm is presented to realize the
computerized procedure. Finally, an example is given to show the
feasibility and validity of the algorithm.
