Abstract: Aiming at on-line chatter suppression, a varying stiffness
control method is proposed. The control method is applied in boring
chatter control. The electro–rheological fluid is used to design a
tunable-stiffness boring bar which can be employed for chatter control
using varying stiffness method. The simulation results are given for
proving the effectiveness of varying stiffness method.
