3D COUPLED THERMO-MECHANICAL NONLINEAR FEM SIMULATION OF CROSS WEDGE ROLLING

Abstract: The cross wedge rolling (CWR) process is studied with the aid of 3-dimension rigid-plastic and coupled thermo-mechanical FEM. On the platform of the general non-linearity FEM software Deform-3D, 3-dimension rigid-plastic and thermo-mechanical finite element model has been established. Based on simulation results, temperature variation of workpiece is analyzed during the rolling process. It also shows the distributions of stress field in the different directions. They have theoretical guide and significance further to investigate the microstructural evolution law and predict accurately on comprehensive mechanical property of CWR product.
