Abstract: A new idea of three–dimensional network ceramics(skeleton)
reinforced metallic composite is put forward, and a new
three–dimensional network ceramics(skeleton) reinforced aluminum alloy
composite is designed and fabricated. The sliding friction and wear
properties of the composite are studied. Experimental results show that
heavy load result in serious adhesive wear, micro—hardness decrease and
sub—surface plastic deformation of the unreinforced aluminum alloy.
Ceramics particles exposed on the sliding surface of the composite
support the load, thus prevent the matrix from severe wear. Compared
with the unreinforced matrix, the composite has stable and comparatively
lower friction coefficient and greatly increased wear resistance .
