Abstract: In order to obtain the influence law of friction on setting
position of billet in the blade precision forging process, metal flowing
law of different billets in the various friction conditions is simulated
and analyzed by using a 3-D FEM code developed by the authors. The
results obtained show the followings: When friction factor is smaller, the
left of the die cavity is filled firstly. Here, in order to obtain a
qualified blade, initial billet should be placed a bit to the right of
cavity. With the increase of friction factor, the left and right of the
die cavity is almost filled simultaneously. Which indicate that the
setting position of billet in the die is more reasonable in this
simulation condition. This study is of significance to technological
design in the blade forging process.
