Abstract: A master control system of a hardware independent
architecture for CNC machine tools is introduced. The system is
developed with visual C++, which is running on the Windows system. The
functions of the developed system are described. An ellipse-cam milling
machining is used to verify the practicability and reliability of the
developed system. The effectiveness of the developed system and the
reliability of the hardware independent architecture for CNC machine
tools are successfully demonstrated by the experimental results.
