Abstract: The synthesis of a new type of intermittent
mechanism-planetary indexing cam mechanism is presented. According to
the layout of the cam-pins pair, the mechanism can be designed to two
types. The structure of the mechanism is discussed, and the equations of
the cam’s pitch curve of both type are derived. The cam's profile is
generated by the method of Boolean operation, and the animation of the
mechanism is also presented. The mechanism should have a potential for
application where a large number of stops is needed and the compaction
of design is essential.
