Abstract: The hysteresis effect of three finger seal configurations
is analyzed under the condition of different pressure differential. Two
phenomena is found that the finger seal with higher radial stiffness can
generally reduce the hysteresis effect of sealing elements and that a
finger seal configuration of low hysteresis and low radial stiffness can
be achieved by creating reasonable finger shape-curve. A baseline finger
seal with logarithen spiral I finger shape-curve is put forward which
can be used as a foundation of further study for low hysteresis finger
seal.
