Abstract: The
CAE-oriented parametric model of extrusion die is established by the
integration of proportional spacing method and ray tracing method. The
pressure distribution and velocity distribution in the runner are educed
through the three-dimensional numerical analysis of the parametric
model. Based on the results of finite element analysis and the
parametric modeling of the runner, some important structure parameters
of die are optimized. The optimization objective of the model is that
the average current velocity of each domain in the cross sections of
extrusion profile is equal. The optimization results could be mapped to
the parametric model directly. And the integration of CAD/CAE is
fulfilled directly. Last, the correctness and validity of the method are
illustrated through a case.
