Abstract: The effect of Mg on the morphology of primary Al3Fe phase
in hypereutectic Al-10%Fe casting alloy is investigated. It is shown
that the morphology of primary Al3Fe phase is changed from coarse
needle-like to branch-like, finally to fine needle(plate)-like or
irregular chunk-like with addition of Mg element.
