Abstract: Under the circumstances of mass customization, the
low-volume variety of products must cover the function requirements by
diverse customers and must have low cost like mass production, it is
contradictory and the key way to solve it is reasonable and effective
module partition. Based on fuzzy clustering and information entropy
theory, a module partiton method and strategy that considering customer
demands, assembly, cost and maintenance are put forward.It analyses the
interaction rule of module clustering and quantified evaluation method
based on information entropy theory and establishes a corresponding
mathematic evaluation model. During the re-design of electric drill by
using modular design method, the initial scheme of the module partition
is obtained by using the method.
