Abstract: According to the characteristics of finite element method
and the structure of “Shengwei I” supercomputer, a parallel algorithm is
designed for explicit finite element method based on message passing and
domain decomposition. A new domain decomposition method is specially
presented for parallelization of explicit finite element simulation of
sheet metal forming. The two numerical examples show that the designed
parallel finite element method with message passing and domain
decomposition improve the efficiency of the simulation of sheet metal
forming rapidly and an optimum PE number is given.
