Abstract: Magnetorheological finishing (MRF) is a newly developed method for finishing optical component. The unsheared region in the flow between wheel and part which called cores is described. The distribution of the cores is analyzed. According to Preston equation, material removal model of magnetorheological finishing (MRF) is established. The pressure acting on the surface of the part is analyzed. Piece of flat surface glass is polished on the MRF experimental facility which is developed by ourselves. The reliability of the model is verified by the experiment.
