Abstract: Based
on the principle of the ISO14042 standard on life cycle impact
assessment, an analysis model of life cycle impact assessment is set up
to quantify the product-oriented environmental attributes through its
life cycle. The environmental eco-indicator can be calculated by the
data process method of classification, grouping and weighting from the
date of inventory analysis according to a certain environmental
mechanisms. With the environmental eco-indicators any designer and
product manager can quantitatively analyse the environmental load of
products over the life cycle, find the main factors to the contribution
over the total environmental impact, select suitable green design
strategies for the improvement of environmental performances of
products. The method of environmental eco-indicator offers a simple,
useful and quantitative solution in green design or redesign when taking
environmental issues into account.
