Abstract: For
a magnetic-bearing-supported high-speed flyw-heel with significant
gyroscopic effects, its nutation and precession modes greatly influence
stability of a system at high rotational speeds. To make a rotor running
at a high rotational speed, its nutation and precession modes should be
restrained effectively. But for such a rotor, traditional PID
controllers are not suitable any more. A method called magnetic force
lead control is created to restrain the nutation mode of a flywheel
rotor. And a displacement cross feedback with a low-pass filter is added
to restrain the precession mode. Analysis results, simulation results
and some experimental results about the method are provided. They all
show the effects of the method.
