PRODUCT CONCEPTUAL DESIGN PROCESSES BASED ON SET THEORY

Abstract: It is a crucial step for conceptual design to realize
product process. Effective product conceptual design can raise quality,
reduce cost and shorten time to market, so it can satisfy customer
requirements accurately. How to realize product conceptual design
process modeling is the hot problem of engineering design field
researches. At first, the characteristics of conceptual design problem
are summarized, the product, product-environment and structure for the
product design using set theory are represented, and primitive
components, primitive compound components and connectors using formal
methods are described. Second two kinds of design process models for
conceptual design are established, and by analyzing product design
processes, process customization is realized for product conceptual
design. At last, a simple design verification case of conveyer mechanism
in plastic box seal-cutting machine for a special purpose is presented
to show an application.
