Abstract: Engine dynamic test bed can simulate vehicle, road load, driver behaviors and drive cycles. Firstly in China, the study on the impact of driver behavior upon vehicle’s acceleration, fuel consumption, starting and gear shifting quality is carried out on engine dynamic test bed. Two typical gear shifting model named dynamic shifting and economic shifting and two classical driver model called fast driver and slow driver are made. The experiment proves that different gear shifting models result in different acceleration and fuel consumption performance based on EUDC cycle. The calculations also clarify the two type drivers’ influence on vehicle starting and shifting quality.

Key words: Engine dynamic test bed  Driver longitudinal operating characteristic  Powertrain
