Abstract: Three indexes related with gun performance are brought forward based on analysis of recoil process of gun. Virtual prototyping technology is introduced into simulation fields of armament. With the application of Fortran language, the virtual prototype of gun is created by using ADAMS (Automatic dynamic analysis mechanical systems). The typical faults model of recoil mechanisms is established and the performances under faulty conditions are simulated with virtual prototype. Furthermore, on the basis of introduction of semi-relative sensitivity analysis method, it is concluded that abrasion of throttling ring affect gun performance worst. Finally, the abrasion threshold of throttling ring is achieved by virtual simulation according to condition limits of firing process, and scientific references are provided to normalized and modern maintenance.
