Abstract: The concept and characteristics as well as main research
contents, key techniques and correlated scientific problems of
intelligent processing of materials (IPM) are discussed. The research
and development situation of IPM is reviewed, and the future
applications are prospected. The intelligent processing technology of
materials should have two important characteristics: materials can be
designed according to the demands of practical use, and the designs of
property and processing technology should be integrated. During the full
process of the design and processing of materials, structure, properties
and shape dimension can be controlled accurately.
