Abstract: A new high power-density brushless permanent magnet
traction motor with water-cooling stator frame as well as design
guideline is presented. This motor is conceptually designed with the
generalized sizing equation. The performance of the motor fed by power
converter is analyzed with the transient finite-element simulation
software based on the simulation technology coupling power-converter
circuits with finite- element analyses. The prototype motor is tested.
The tested results show the satisfaction of the required specifications.
