Abstract: Breaking through the conventional theory and method with
design innovation, a novel roller bearing—deep cavity hollow cylindrical
roller bearing is proposed in order to decrease or prevent the stress
concentration on the ends of the roller. The research based on theory
indicates that the deep cavity hollow cylindrical roller bearing has
outstanding performance. With the advantages and without the
disadvantages of both logarithmic profile roller bearing and hollow
cylindrical roller, the novel bearing is able to eliminate or decrease
the sharp edge stresses effect of both contact stresses and equivalent
stresses, to prevent super-precision manufacturing and to keep the
merits of the hollow roller bearing such as adapting to vibration and
impact loads, improving the lubricating and cooling condition, light,
less inertial forces on the outer ring and better high speed
performance, etc.
