Abstract: The temperature field of twin wire welding is calculated
by using classical double ellipsoid heat source model. After comparing
the simulating results with the measuring results it shows that when
applying this model to the numerical simulation of twin wire welding’s
temperature field there exist big errors. By analyzing the arc shape and
droplet transition path of twin wire welding, the phenomena that front
arc and rear arc of twin wire welding deflect to the middle of the two
wires is found. This phenomenon explains the reason of simulating
results’ errors. Based on this phenomenon the double ellipsoid heat
source model is amended and the heat source model of twin wire welding
is presented. This model’s calculating results anastomose well with the
measuring results.
