Abstract: The
stiffness of a 4-DOF hybrid machine tools is analyzed and evaluated
based on the stiffness analysis of column and leg substructures. The
results show that the bearing stiffness is the weakest factor and the
stiffness in x direction changes rapidly which goes against steady
machining precision. The concept of stiffness variety is given and the
analysis of factors of stiffness variety in x direction is presented.
And the optimization designs are accomplished aimed at stiffness
variety, it provides theoretical reliance for optimization and design of
stiffness of machine tools.
