Abstract: The materials and inner porous structures in the scaffolds are the key factors affecting the tissue engineering scaffold efficiency. The 3D discrete model assembled with material cell, can represent the material information as well as record the geometric. The modeling provided the numerical model for the rapid prototyping and micro-droplet to accurately fabricate the scaffolds with heterogeneous materials and gradient structures. The material cell modeling is based on the decomposition models and model objects by sub-dividing space into multiple cells and setting cell value. The modeling included several parts: sub-dividing, cell shape, the principle of cell density, cell quantifying, local error analysis. Based on the research, the material cell modeling software is written in Matlab language. Two models are presented: 3D bone model with defined composition functions, 3D skull model got from MRI slices of a human skull. So the feasibility of the process is proved.

Key words: Rapid prototyping Tissue engineering 3D modeling Micro-droplet
