Abstract: Very high press intensity features largely in modern heavy close die forging presses. The huge tonnage prestressed hydraulic cylinder with very high pressure and the prestressed wire wound frame with high strength, high reliability, and high fatigue life are the core techniques to realize the very high press capability, reduce the press volume, lighten its weight, and control its manufacturing difficulties and cost. During designing and manufacturing the desired cylinder, the sealing problem under very high pressure and large clearance, eliminating the stress concentration and increasing the bearing capability are the key know-how. The prestressed structure can greatly increase fatigue resistance properties of the cylinder and frame. The prestressed wire wound can exert the strength potential of the material and impressively reduce the frame’s volume and weight, and its manufacturing cost.

Key words: Weighty equipment  Heavy die forging press  Very high pressure  Prestressed structure  Wire wound
