Abstract:
Residual strength model is phenomenological methodologies which can
describe the fatigue crack behavior of machinery components visually.
For some special elements, such as engine crankshafts, it is hard to
build their residual strength model by normal experimental methods. In
order to study their residual strength, an experimental residual
strength model based on dynamical information tracing technology is
brought forward. This model is built on modality analysis of the
resonant crankshaft test machine and fracture mechanics analysis of
crack expanding behavior. The basic principle and discussion of
feasibility of the method are presented. Some relevant tests are
conducted for a kind of diesel engine crankshaft, and basic characters
of their residual strength degeneration are evaluated accordingly.
